Greetings and welcome to
The Page for Independent Members!

With this wonderful medium of communication, I would like to take this opportunity to say Hello to the many Independent members both here in New Zealand and overseas.
My name is Elaine Baldwin, and I was elected as your Independent Delegate at the Annual General meeting, held at Christchurch during the Fuchsiarama weekend, in February, 2002
I live in Waiuku, which is south of Auckland, and West of the Bombays.
For most of us, we are either too far away from, or not enough of us to have a regular meeting.
Our membership of the National Fuchsia Society of New Zealand gives us a quarterly Link magazine, with lots of articles, and helpful information about the growing of our favourite flower.
Is there a Fuchsia you have lost and not been able to replace? Please let me know and I will endeavour to locate where it might be possible to obtain it from.
To this end, we are setting up a database of members' fuchsias, one for the North Island, and one for the South Island.
Please contact me at candebaldwin@xtra.co.nz

A highlight of our trip to Melbourne and Victoria in April 2002 was a visit to independent member
and their Fuchsia Heaven.. They welcomed us with warmth and hospitality. To walk inside their door, is to go into an Aladdin's cave. There are lamp shades, stained glass, pictures, embroideries, photo frames, crockery, wall hangings, calendars, crystal, ornaments, ...... I could go on.....
There is one room in their house with some.. not all. of their collection of Fuchsia Lore. You could never imagine some of the items they have. However I have included some of the photographs I took these will give you will get some idea of what I mean.
